New Brother Last Sunday!!! =}

So happy for our new Baby Brother in Christ, Jesse Garcia=)

WOOHOO!!!!!!

I am so stoked! Ok, soooooo basically I applied to live in a dorm at UCLA
and after I applied the Housing Office offered me a co-ed dorm hall where I would have to share a bathroom that fits 6 showers with 40-50 other girls and the guys bathroom is right down the hall. The hall-type dormitories are known as the more "social" dorms, which is why I did not want to live there.

Sooooo, I requested to have my dorm changed but even then the change wouldn't be guaranteed.
HOWEVER! I found out just now that my change of assignment request has been made and I will be staying in a completely different and better dorm room....woohoo!

God is watching!

Mikey's Spiritual Twin

I know this is late but better late than never. As most of you know, my little brother Deion got baptized on Feb. 28th of this year. It was an incredible day because Mikey got baptized just hours before Deion. So, now Deion is my triple brother (blood, in Christ and black) and Mikey's spiritual twin. Praise God!!!

*tears*

After church my mom told me that she is sorry for not protecting me spiritually and biblically like she should have while I was growing up. Great sermon Marcel.

New Look

I'm feeling the new look for the blog.

Please Pray for my Family

Well, the title kind of explains it. I just wanted to ask everyone to keep my Uncle Antonio in your prayers. He just found out that he has cancer in his stomach and it's really bad. The doctors said there is almost no chance that he'll live and my family is devastated right now. My mom is especially sad and is having a hard time because her mom died in a similar way. However, my mom visited him and shared the Word of God with him and he seemed very open to it, so hopefully things can get better.

God is Working

For real....

So, about that scholarship interview...I got the scholarship! $1,000! Woohoo! And I know that in college $1,000 can disappear more suddenly than expected, HOWEVER, if I had to choose between having no money or $1,000, what should I do? Yupyup.

I also found out that I got a $250 scholarship and I had another scholarship interview earlier this week. The people in there also gave me a lot of compliments and we really hit it off during the interview so we will see.

More good news.....

A couple of weeks ago I was recognized by my school's head counselor at an awards ceremony. She had shared that back in my freshman year of high school she did not even think that I would make it - there's my sin for ya. However, now she wanted to recognize me for different achievements by awarding me the Best All Around award. I was very encouraged and my sister Jasmine and my mom got to be there with me....another encouragement.

AND! I thought I'd save the best for last (:

My mom is studying the Bible! Yeeah! I even woke up one morning and saw her having her quiet time.
Please pray for her. This is the second time she has studied the Bible so just please pray that God really impacts her heart and moves her to make any change that she needs to do in order to be with God. Thank you!

Friday Devo

Friday devo was cool!! We learned how to read the bible on our own. Also, we got our own journals to have our quiet times in.

So I am very encouraged by a couple of scholarship interviews I have had this week. I have been elected to compete for a certain scholarship and the competition consisted of several interview. For both interviews I feel I did very well and received great feedback from the interviewers. As I left the conference room I overheard one of them saying, "She's the only one who could really talk." AWESOME! And I just want to thank God for allowing me to have confidence as I went in to speak with them, especially because I was feeling rather emotional from other struggles I had earlier.

SUPER ENCOURAGED TEEN LEADER!!!!!!!!!! ; )

I know I speak on behalf of all the teen leaders when I say THAAAAANK YOUUUUU for such an encouraging night you guys!!!! I know it was A LOT of work and coordination putting it together!!..(Special thanks to April and Nicole for doin that) but also to all the teens and teen parents involved!!! U guys rock my socks!!! hahahaha (inside joke...i just let u guys in...lol) anyway....lots of love given tonight and means a lot!.

A little side note to my Do0ods...DREW AND ANDREW!!!...U two...u know i LOVE the heck out of you.....even though u also know I would and do BEAT u both when u bad..hahahaha...cuz i care of course..lol..but nah fo real...u both are a blessing to me from God and its a privilege being a big bro to you two and having the friendship we do!!! ; ) 

God is amazing and shows himself through family like we have here in our AWESOME TEEN MINISTRY!!!! AAAHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!! ; )

Volleyball!

So our volleyball tournament is coming up and I'm sure many of you want to get some practice in before the big day! We're going to be joining the Latin ministry this saturday to get some bumps and sets and spikes. Bring a volleyball if you have one. It will be at 9AM May 15 Saturday at Granada park in Alhambra. Hey everyone!

I hope all of you have had the chance to meet my new friend Marlene the past couple Devos and sunday services. Her mom is studying the Bible and she as well has started. On Tuesday, I had the privilege to have a Bible study with her.  She was very encouraged and I could see the love of Christ that is growing within her.  Please encourage her on Devos and whenever you see her. 04/23 Devo Heroes!

OK, last Friday we had a awesome devo based on three heroes and not your typical super heroes. these heroes are much older and had no super just the faith they had in GOD. they all can be found in the bible at Judges 3:7-11, 3:12-29, and 3:31. Othniel the do it guy that over powered a king and had peace for 40 years next Ehud a left handed man that killed a king pretty much bigger than him like a mouse vs a elephant but he had a plan this all out and all came out as plan lastly but very brief which sum everything up is a single Scripture and its Shamgar a guy with conviction killed 600 people (philistines) with a stick! wow that something and oh yeah he saved Israel in a days worth some guys well this what happen catch you later bye - jose & mikey~~~~~

First Ever Teen Ministry Kickball Game

This Friday we played kickball. I'm sure we were all humbled by this game. My friend from school, Allen, was able to make to the devo; that was very encouraging. I was also encouraged by everyone entroducing themselves to him. Hope you Teens can bring your friends, not only from school, to the devos.

One by One and Soul By Soul

So recently I've been so excited because I've had the chance to reach out to people in different ways. The most recent being our bible talk at Alhambra High where two new people came and we were able to play a fun game where a partner had to lead their friend through a maze. I was able to do a lesson on having true friendship following this - challenging people to choose friends who spur them on spiritually rather than pressuring them to sin. Not only that, but I was also able to cook a dinner for Rodney J.'s family with Kevin Sewell where we ate a garlic basil cream sauce and pasta with Italian turkey sausage and beef meatballs as well as stuffed peppers. Hopefully, by doing small things like this, more people can see and through our lives that, how great a life with God can be. (:

HAPPY SPIRITUAL BIRTHDAY JUSTINE! Wow you're two years old! Well I know that God has definitely changed your life and has allowed you to impact others. You are such an inspiration to so many people and I'm so lucky to have you as my sister in Christ. It was extremely encouraging at midweek when Karina announced that you were accepted into UCLA. I'm so happy for you, and God has definitely been working in your life. Happy Spiritual Birthday! :D

yay!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I am veeeeerrryyy encouraged by this news that I just received from the UCLA Financial Aid Office. By combining my estimated eligibility for grants, scholarships and financial aid I will have to pay less than half the amount needed to attend UCLA. AND I found out I qualify for the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, which covers the entire cost of my college fees. As I said before, the amount I might receive in aid is only an estimate and it is subject to change. PLEASE pray that I do receive all of the aid needed to attend this university. The amount of aid I receive from a particular college will play a large role in what univerisity I end up going to. God has blessed me SOOO much and I only hope that your prayers will continue to work powerfully.

Thanks For Your Prayers!

I want to thank everyone who put aside a bit of their time to pray for our Women's Day in the Latin Sector. We had a great time and many of us were inspired by this event. Shirley did a great job giving her testimony! A friend I met recently was also able to attend, which made me extremely happy because I have been praying for her, so that she will get closer to God and join the teen ministry when she goes to high school. =) Thank you all so much! God definitley moved powerfully through this event!

Prayers Please

I have a friend named Vanessa, and I have been working really hard on trying to get her to come out. She's Catholic, so she doesn't really want to come to anything. It's a little difficult, but I believe that I can get her to come to something. :) Please pray for her. If anybody has gone through something like this and could give me ideas on how to get her out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Pray for Her!

I was finally able to convince my friend Yessenia from school to come yesterday to the Roller Rink. She had a great time and was encouraged by every teen there. She was also able to come today to the Sunday Service. I hope that she will keep coming and keeps getting encouraged by all of you. So please pray that she may be able to come more often and someday join the family.

Moonlight Rollerway was a blast! I can't wait for someone to post pictures. Did anyone actually get that autograph from Ashton Kutcher? I remember meeting Megan and Mary. (Haha let's go biblical name!) They were absolutley darling if I do say so myself. My friend, Sarah, and I almost won "four corners" and our former Central Chica, Brooke, joined us. Yeah! :D I think it was a very successful event and I pray that the others who were there want to come back. Hopefully they will learn who God really is and turn from their ways. :D
