Extra, Extra!

Dig this,
karen johana suggested that all teens who will be at the car wash ought to wear the C cube'd T-shirt. If ur C cube'd T-shirt is not clean, then this will be a great opportunity to start getting ready to wash so that you will be ready on Saturday.... Stay ready so you don't have to get ready. Is that how it goes???
All jokes aside, let us also be praying that many people will let us wash their cars so that we can give a great amount of $ to the Churches is Russia.

I'm out!

women's day

hi everybody! oooo im so excited to be posting up my very first post ever!

this past saturday we had the amazing annual women's day and as usual it was totally encouraging. this year it was titled "the missing peace" (get it?-see the pic) and the Lord knows i needed to learn more about that. not only was almansor court beautiful, but the lessons were really inspiring and helpful. my favorite: griselda lua (latino ministry) speaking about "peace through a relationship with God." we read philippians 4: 6-8, focusing specifically on using prayer and meditation as a way to be closer to God and obtain his peace.

My favorite part is where griselda pointed out how most people think of meditation as sitting in a quiet room in a relaxed position and emptying your mind of all thought (its funny cuz she sounded like a yoga instructor) but the bible says to fill our minds with positive thoughts (v.8). so then i was like, "oooooh, i can do that!" cuz i was never really able to "empty" my mind... until right before i fell asleep. (zzzzz) anyway, thats just one reason why it was so totally cool, wow, women's day is soooo one of my favorite things.

here's a video of the sisters singing b-e-a-utifully, and right when the video ends, bonnie started to cry and could barely keep singing....it was soooo moving..... i wanna cry just thinking about it.... especially the part where the song says

"oh, what peace we often forefeit, oh, what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer" :'\ wow.... so true....

Bible Studies

Great news my peeps! Today Matt and I lead the Word Study with a guy from school named Hyuntae!!! He also said that he would like to have another study which means the Discipleship Study. It's going to be on Friday, so pray that he becomes more and more interested and gets baptized, and that Matt and I can bear more and more good fruit from ERHS! Peace and live the good life.

Seven Years in the Making

You already know but I wanted to share the good news that my mom got baptized this past Sunday (4-27). It took seven years but, hallelujah, she's a disciple now. I wanted to express how grateful I am to all of you who showed support by going to her baptism and for all of the prayers for my mom. May God be praised and may this story inspire us to keep praying and having faith that our loved ones can become disciples and that miracles happen everyday (matt 19:25-26).

Let's Have Fun Fun Fun!!

Hello everyone!

I just wanna share how this week has been but fun and encouragements to me. Maria and I spent practically the entire day together at Venice beach enjoying the breeze and the sun and then we went to Norms after Devo with a few teens as well to eat and listen to Ejay and Jojo as they shared about the day he asked her to be his girlfriend, cute love story! :)

We also had our April Teen Leader Fun Night at Ejay and Nick's new household in Alhambra. It was fun watching everyone get too excited as we all try to describe the word to our team mates, the game was catch phrase. As you can see that's Lisa high fiving her husband because she got us a point!! Marrieds vs Singles, we won! Ejay and Nick had lil prizes for the winners, the finger food was very nice and artsy like how Ejay would do it ;) God is good to us all for blessing us with spiritual friends that knows how to have fun and that does not back down to calls us higher to be better for God!

Challenge Day ( read my blog and the title will make sense....trust me)

Today i went to an event at my school called Challenge Day. it was very inspiring and encouraging because i spent the entire day with about 100 students, teachers, counselors, and volunteers for the purpose of getting to know one another and really being able to take off our "masks" that we put ourselves in every day and allowing ourselves and others to see who we really are. it is important because many and/or everybody judges somebody or oppresses somebody for being a certain way without realizing that a person may act the way they act because of a drug or alcohol history, violence or death in a family, depression and a suicidal past, being teased, being pushed to be somebody that they are not or feel a certain way because it is more acceptable, or maybe a person is the way that they are because they were harrased, beaten, put down, or raped.
and i loved it because honestly i know i have a tendency to judge people but today was really fascinating in way because i and others got to know the struggles that others have gone through and i never would have guessed that certain people were victims of racism, or that their houses get shot at, were or are suicidal, or had a death in the family. there is so much more to say but overall it was a very great and eyeopening day.
one more thing =)...
a kid had said how great this world would be if everybody would just stop hating and judging each other and just open up their eyes and see that we're all the same and all of us go through struggles and because of those similarities we can all get along!!!!
and that is very true but imagine how INCREDIBLY MORE GREAT this world would be if we all had God our Father as an important part of our lives. IMAGINE.
just a 'lil encouragment to share our faith and help those lost sheep. coz there is A LOT of them.
=D

well, i got baptised last week Mar. 31!!! im a new sister in Christ and i thank GOD from the bottom of my heart that He saved me and it is soo inspiring and encouraging that God gave me the power and the job to go make disciples so that they can have that wonderful peace in their hearts that brings tears to my eyes and i thank God 'coz i know i made it!! and i thank every one you for helping me, being there for me, giving me advice, and even if i never had a real conversation with one of you i just appreciate you showing up, helping, loving, putting your two sense in, and being a light in a dark cruel world soooo......don't give up! those lost sheep need you!

All-Time High

Hey great news ya'll: today the Eagle Rock High School TBT Bible Talk had a new record of visitors. Our previous record was 17, and today we had 27 visitors. I think people are starting to hear more and more of Marcel's preaching. lol. So continue to pray that we reach our goal of 3o visitors and that it adds up more. But also that we get some bible studies and baptisms out of it because what's the point of a bible talk without helping people out and using the bible, lol. DJ C Money out.

Prayer Requests

Hello awesome brothers and sisters from the Awesome and Inspiring TEEN MNISTRY.
I wanted to request your prayers for the following people that have shown some interest in coming to church.
Fatima Martinez my friend since High School.
Mayra Tanner my friend from San Francisco
and My classmate Henry, also pray for his family. He's grandfather passed away this week.
Thanks in advance for your prayers.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18

Teen Jesus (Luke 2:41-52)

Jewish adult males were required by the law of Moses to appear before God 3 times a year at the great festivals (Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles). The age of manhood was 12, which was also Jesus' age at this time in the narrative, and thus a requirement for him to present himself at the altar.

By the same law, this is his first "conscious" visit to Jerusalem, the place of his eventual death. (Imagine the emotional weight of that thought, and yet he kept silent about this during his time there.)

As the parents return home, they "lose" Jesus. (The caravans were traditionally separated by men and women, so there could have been legitimate miscommunication between Mary and Joseph.) They are "unaware" (v.43) of the fact that they have lost him for an entire day! They searched feverishly for him among their relatives and friends and did not find him until they backtracked all the way to Jerusalem and after three days.

There are many spiritual parallels to this story:

1. We can easily "lose Jesus" and even be unaware of the fact for a long period of time.
2. We may search for Jesus feverishly in the wrong places.
3. We find him after some effort - sometimes requiring backtracking, and often at the place we last left him.
4. Those who seek Jesus w/ great anxiety find him w/ greater joy.

They eventually found him at the temple courts engaged in rich discussion w/ the religious elite.

The *courts* were places of learning (notice Jesus didn't "argue", but "listened" and "asked questions" of the teachers.)

The *sanctuary* was the place of the altar and worship - this duty had already been fulfilled so Jesus wasn't found there. In this, we shed some light on the purpose of Jesus staying behind in Jerusalem - "[growing] in his wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." (v.52) We should strive to grow in the way Jesus did even as a child!

Interesting note - Jesus asked his parents "Why were you searching for me?" I love the irony and symbolism - We all have to find Jesus *spiritually*, Mary and Joseph had to find Jesus *literally*.

And lastly - Jesus was "obedient to them." (v.51) Picture God (sinless and perfect) being obedient to parents (sinners and imperfect). We have ZERO excuse to disobey our parents. :D
