man im sooo encouraged right now!

it was really cool.
i just finished doing a course i do on the internet and it took me about 2 hours to do.

i finally finished and copied and pasted my info to notepad coz sometimes my computer messes up and the internet dies causing all the info to be lost.

i tried to submit my info and it did just that so i had to log back on and copy and paste everthing back onto the course to try to submit it again

my computuer also has difficulty and scrolling down the page and it was irritating me.

my family wants to go and spend time with each other and is waiting on me to finish my course.
so here i am in a hurry with the scroll going slow and messing up and i have to copy and paste all this information.

i was getting frustrated and mad and i just wanted to send my information

i eventually blew up inside my body and just shortly begged God to make this scroll work so i could please send my info....

HE DID!

right after that whenever i had to scroll up or down on the website to copy and paste i had NO difficulties. God worked it out all the way through as soon as i begged Him to help me and could not stand it anymore.

im encouraged =)

ok lates! got to go
=D

PS: the beach was really awesome yesterday! the lesson and whole "adventure" was convicting =D

SAT PREP COURSE

I hope many of you will be able to sign up for the SAT Prep Course this summer. Classes begin June 21st and there is a FREE seminar on June 14th from 4:00-5:30pm. Melody should've emailed all of you, but if you need more information let me know and I can put you in contact with her. Happy studying!

Prayer Request

Hi, it's me Lyn,

I just want to ask that you include me in your prayers for this following month. It's truly been humbling for me this past few months. I've been looking for a job as a 3D Artist out there and it's been really tough and discouraging for me at times. I've been waiting for a response from one of the studio and they finally got back to me today. Well in short, they are not hiring right now as they thought they would be. But they left a glimpse of hope that they will be hiring soon and will keep my demo reel and call me then. I'm gonna keep looking and sending my resume out there so please pray that God opens doors for me to start working soon wherever that maybe where I could bring glory to him.

Another thing is my cold and flu, I haven't been myself this past few days because of my sickness. Please pray for that as well.

Thank you for your love and support in prayers!

Much Love,
Lyn

Prayer Request and Great News!

Hello family! I have great news to share with you. In case you were wondering where I've been for the past two
Sundays, let me tell you "No I'm not struggling"! I actually been taking my mom to the East region! God has graciously answer my prayers and has opened my mom's heart to study the Bible. She will be having her first Bible study on Thursday!!! I am very excited to share this great news with you but I am asking you to please keep my mom in your prayers. Please pray for her to receive the message with great eagerness (Acts 17:11). Pray for me to be a good example and to trust God and not be anxious.
Thanks a lot,
your sister in Christ

Contemplations of the day...

Hello Partay People!
I hope You're all having a great day! The weather is perfect for some hot cocoa and a quiet read today, so I am here to report that I plan on taking full advantage of this blessed day. Sometimes these gloomy days bring out the 'Sadness and Infinite Meloncholy' within us but the Lord knows and the spirit interceded for us...
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.(Romans 8:26-27)
This is at least encouraging to me because it reminds of Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
and Zech 2:13
Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.
There is no need to fret, no need to worry, though there are many reasons to do so, Just be still and know God, know that he has roused himsels on your behalf, trust that he will help you overcome as he overcomes the world for you. It is a perfect day to sit and be still before the Lord. It is a perfect day to sit and read of God and his many adventures and wonders. It is a perfect day to talk to God. It is a perfect day to listen to the Father. Most importantly it is a perfect day to spend with your first love, He needs it just as much as you.
John 14:22
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 15:9
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
John 16:27
No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
John 14:13-14
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Well I hope you all are having a great day and I pray you trust and know the spirit will always intercede for you. Love you all ; )

Camel Through a What?!

Let's keep the thread going (pun intended) on JQ's last post...

Camel Through a What?! (Matthew 19:24 / Mark 10:25 / Luke 18:25)

"Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." -Luke 18:25.

Ouch!

That's the first thing that comes to my mind. And that's what the apostles must've been thinking too, all three gospels recount that they were "greatly astonished and asked, 'Who then can be saved?'" thus implying that the conditions for salvation are so lofty that they are impossible!

(Disclaimer: These are some additional insights derived from some recreational reading and for though-provoking (not scholarship) purposes - they are non-authoritative and definitely extrabilbical!)

There are a couple of theories about what may have been said in this incredibly difficult teaching. In both cases, the common interpretation remains intact - it is an exaggeration that Jesus uses to portray the immense difficulty in entering heaven - particular those who have great earthly wealth.

The first theory is the suggestion that the Greek word for "camel" (κάμηλον) or "kamilos" was possibly misprinted from (κάμιλον), or "kamelos" which meant rope. In other words, Jesus' original statement may have been that it was harder for a "rope to go through the eye of a needle" (which while still impossible, at least more 'sensibly' impossible!) At least you can try to start figuring out ways to get that rope through the needle by untwining/untwisting it or something (whereas w/ the camel, you'd probably wouldn't even know where to start.) Hm... untwisting - perhaps a spiritual parallel for confession and correction/repentance??

Some english translations of the scripture even use the word "cable" in place of "camel" which sound/spell similarly... kinda like the Greek. Coincidence? :D

Another hypothesis is that Jesus was referring to a certain gateway from that time in Jerusalem called "The Needle's Eye" in which merchants would go through after dark when the main gates were shut. The gate was more of a doorway, easy for a human being to go through, but requiring some effort for, say, a camel. The camel would have to unload all of its baggage first and enter crawling on its knees!

To enter the kingdom of God we too must "unload all of our baggage" (sins/worries/etc.) and enter "on our knees" (submission to God/humility, etc.)!

Again, these are just interpretations, but enlighten us of the lesson that is unmistakably clear - that the path to heaven is indeed a narrow one that will require much effort and sacrifice in the course of our entire lives for us to squeeze through.

The good news is that Jesus reminds us in the next verse: "What is impossible with men is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

So Close, But So Far

Luke 18:18-30

The Rich Ruler
18A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

19"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone. 20You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.'[a]"

21"All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.

22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

23When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. 24Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

26Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?"

27Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

28Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"

29"I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life."

This passage of scripture is an interesting one because it gives us a clip of Jesus' working on a person's heart in real time. In this scene, a man, a very wealthy and important man, comes to Jesus and begins to encourage Him. He calls Jesus good teacher, which was surely a way to flatter Him because the Jews had a saying something like this:"no one is good except the law." Which is why Jesus responds the way that he did. Jesus responded by saying "no one is good except God alone." In this small response there is much to note about the Character and temperament of Jesus; first he responds humbly, denying that He is the source of the "good," and secondly, He directs the ruler back to God by expressing that God is the source of Good - which is where the law comes from.

Here is a great model for us and for how to deal with others. We need to be humble, especially when people are flattering us. It may feel good, and the things they say may even be true. But flattery can be a tool of satan to pull you away from God. When you start to believe your own hype, when you stop being in awe of God's amazing powers, which enables you to do all that you do. This misplaced credit is also known as pride, which the Bible says on many occasions is the downfall of man.

In regards to others, there are many times when our consciences know that there is something off about our friends/brothers or sister's in Christ. We all can relate to feeling that there is something wrong spiritually with someone we are close to. What are we to do in that situation? With the rich ruler, Jesus was quick to redirect his focus back to God. "No one is good—except God alone (v19)." We should follow suit, and always be active in driving our friends and family towards God, for it is he who knows how to change and fix the human heart. Our people may lose their focus a little. We should point them to God if we truly wish to help them.

And later on in this passage, we see that Jesus had a bulls-eye accuracy about the spiritual state of this ruler. The man came to Jesus because though he had everything, even a spiritual background, he still felt empty. The truth of the matter was he was rich, yet he gave nothing away. This is evident by his response. The thought of him giving away his possessions crippled him. His real God was his comfort and what he really worshiped were his possessions and his wealth. If a person's god is that to which he gives all his time, thought, energy, and devotion, then wealth was this man's god. If he were to ever find happiness he would have to radically change his life as he knew it. He wasn't willing to go. He wasn't willing to be directed back to God - the one who provides true happiness.

Why did Jesus say that it was so hard for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God? The whole tendency of possessions is to glue our thoughts to the world. We begin to have so much invested in the world that we never want to leave it. It is not a sin to be rich, but it is a grave danger to the soul and a great responsibility.

Peter and the disciples, on the other hand, were trying their best to follow Jesus, and they reminded Him of the fact that they left everything to follow Him. And Jesus reminded them that no one who gives us anything for the kingdom would not be repaid many times over.

Do you believe that? Do you live a life of sacrifice, or are you storing up things here that make it hard for you to look up - to look at God? Will it be hard for you to leave and go to heaven? Really think about it.

How good are you at making sure you are humbly in tune with God? And not just emotionally humble, but humble in the ways that you obey his commands? Like the heart of a child, we need to trust and obey our heavenly parent - God.

And how good are you at leading others toward God? When it is obvious that your friend needs some spiritual help, do you have the courage to speak up? Even when they are flattering you, do you have the humility to give the credit to God? This is the example that Jesus gave us to follow of how to keep ourselves from being trapped by pride, and how to truly love our friends - by taking them to the One who can really help them.

There is so much to learn about life through the example of Jesus. And there is so much to gain from the life of surrender. Do not be lacking in knowledge and courage. Fight for them. It's worth it.

Prayer Request

Let's pray for Cynthia and Matt who are taking their SAT exam on Saturday. Let's pray they do an extraordinary job!!

E to Jizzay!

Happiest of birfdays to you, sir!

You are 22 now and I wish I had some wise word to share with you about this landmark age that you have reached...

...

... (blank stare) ...

but I don't!

But from what I can see (and you let me see a lot), just keep doing what you are doing. You are one of the biggest examples of love and friendship that I know. I sometimes think to myself when looking for answers on how to be a good friend, "What would EJay do?"

I am glad that I have you in my life in the capacity that you are there.

Much love, man!

JR 5000

The Maturation of Cellski

The biggest of ups to you for reaching seven years old spiritually. You're a spiritual second-grader. When I was in second grade was when I think I misbehaved the most. Don't do that spiritually!

In all seriousness I appreciate your faith (i.e. moms, brother, ministry, etc), and your example. I have benefitted from seeing them both for the last six years, and am grateful to God for having you as a guide.

Much love and continual strength my brother,
